Raw, rugged and unspoilt – Yorkshire in February is a joy to experience, and a fantastic place to spend your Half Term staycation. Whether you decide to visit the exhilarating Yorkshire coast, or delve into the heart of the rolling Yorkshire Dales, there is excitement waiting for you there.  Frosty mornings, mist over the valleys and the potential of snow will add a touch of magic to your family holiday, and make it all the more appealing for kids of every age. 

You will find that the popular landmarks like York, Whitby, and Harrogate are much quieter in February, so you can soak up all the best parts, without the usual hustle. Similarly, all the favourite tourist destinations like Fountains Abbey, Harewood House and Stockeld Park are quieter too, even though they usually host some fantastic family events over the Half Term break. By late February, you should be lucky enough to see some of the early signs of spring in Yorkshire too – snowdrops blooming amongst the Bolton Abbey ruins and shoots beginning to bloom in wild, woodland areas like Birk Crag. And after you have finished your adventure-filled day outdoors, you will find pubs with roaring fires, hearty food (think Yorkshire pudding and hearty stews), and friendly faces to welcome you in from the cold.
