Hillside, Near Whitby, Yorkshire Coast

With breathtaking views across the surrounding countryside towards the coast and a chic yet welcoming interior, you can’t help but take a long, deep breath and instantly relax as you arrive at Hillside Farm.  With plenty of space to comfortably accommodate all 22 guests, it’s the perfect place for a family reunion or a group getaway in Yorkshire.

EAT

The stylish kitchen is fully equipped with everything you’ll need to cater for your group, with an electric oven, a hob and a large fridge and freezer. A comfy L-shaped sofa is a wonderful addition to this practical living space meaning you can socialise while prepping food. Sliding doors lead onto a large terrace with a long wooden table and chairs and sun loungers where you can eat if the weather is fair. Just off the kitchen, you’ll find the bright and welcoming dining room with a large dining table to seat 22 guests. The dining space has a lovely country cottage feel and is perfect for both formal and informal dining. There’s also a range of welcoming pubs and places to eat out within a short distance of the house.

SLEEP

With 10 comfortable bedrooms on offer, each with its own character and charm, you’ll struggle to find a favourite. Accommodation comprises king, double and twin bedrooms, with one family room for 4 people. All of the bedrooms have a private ensuite with WC, hand basin and either a bath, shower or both.

RELAX

The lounge area is perfect to relax in with a mug of coffee and a good book. With its comfortable sofas, warming wood burner and book-lined shelves, you can chill out alone for a while or catch up with friends in a relaxing setting. There’s also a separate TV room with a Smart TV, which is great for movie nights and catching up on the latest series. The outdoor space at Hillside Farm is just as wonderful as the indoor space. The huge terrace features padded wicker sun loungers so you can enjoy the lush views and fresh sea air, and there is also a hot tub, which we can arrange for a small additional fee.

EXPLORE

Just two miles from the picturesque village of Sleights, you’re well-placed to find a range of local businesses including Radfords Butchers, a fish and chip shop, Botham’s bakery, and a hair and beauty salon. Five miles away is the popular seaside town of Whitby, where you can take a walk on the sand, dip your toes in the sea and enjoy world-famous fish and chips. Another wonderful place to visit with the family is Abbey Visitor Centre and also The River Esk, which runs through a deep valley and broadens out as it comes near the harbour. Robin Hoods Bay is close by with its old stone fishermen’s cottages and cobbled streets with cafes, restaurants, and artisan shops and the view across the bay to the Ravenscar headland is not to be missed. There are wonderful local walks with many stretches along the coastline via The Cleveland Way. Perhaps the most rewarding is the spectacular 3.5-mile stretch between Robins Hood’s Bay and Ravenscar.  The moors themselves also offer a wealth of walks further inland. The Esk Valley Railway with services provided by Northern Rail has stations in both Sleights and Grosmont, where the North Yorkshire Moors Railway also has its base.

Entrance hallway with hooks to hang coats and the staircase leading up to the first floor.

Large sitting room has with full height ceilings and exposed beams, log burner, large comfy sofas and chairs. Windows with far reaching views towards the sea and Whitby.

Boot room and utility room, which has a washing machine, dryer and sink.

The large dining room with seating for 22 leads through to the kitchen which has fitted units, an L shaped sofa, large island, two dishwashers, cooker, sink and large sliding doors with wonderful views and access onto a large terrace.

There are two double bedrooms with shower rooms ensuite on the ground floor:

Bedroom 8: 1 double bed with ensuite shower

The TV room leads from the kitchen and has a large L shaped sofa, smart TV and ensuite shower room.

There is access from the kitchen, utility room and passage way to the back terrace with access up the garden steps to Bedroom 10 and access to Bedroom 9 on the ground floor level.

Hillside is situated in Littlebeck, five miles from the Yorkshire Coast and two miles from Sleights, where there is a well stocked Spar shop, Radfords Butchers, fish and chip shop, Bothams bakery, hair and beauty salon. Grosmont also has a village shop, pub, excellent gallery and several coffee shops on hand.

The house is 5 miles from the beach at Sandsend and Whitby, both local seaside towns with beaches, cafes and pubs.

Whitby is an ancient port with a fascinating history, famed by Captain Cook and Brahm Stoker’s Dracula, with a ruined abbey and working harbour.  It also has sandy beaches with rock pools and some of the best fish and chips in the world!

A wonderful town to visit with lots of fun to be had for families with the Abbey, and Abbey Visitor Centre which are wonderful attractions. The River Esk runs through a deep valley which broadens out as it comes near the harbour.

Wow, this house is amazing, the bedrooms are great, the living room is a wonderful surprise as you open the door, the outside seating area and hot tub with wonderful views across the valley and over to Whitby are breathtaking on a clear day, it is in a remote location so if you want to relax and don’t mind a short drive on narrow country lanes then this place is for you !!

On arrival it was evident that Hillside Farm was a perfect location, With stunning views across to Whitby that have to be seen to be believed, to the high end furnishings and fully equipped kitchen this location is perfect.

Absolutely five star, I only wish I had an excuse to book again (I will think of something).  highly recommend for anyone looking for somewhere special.

The rooms are splendid, the hot tub a huge hit, the views sensational, location ideal.

We had a fabulous weekend of celebration- the house is lovely and set in a beautiful location-it is very well equipped with good quality furnishings -the hot tub was particularly popular. Everything was great for all age groups from 11 months to 80years-thank you

Hillside Farm is a beautiful retreat. Decorated and furnished to a very high standard with amazing spaces for entertaining large groups both inside and out. Perfect for a reunion or family gathering. The house is exceptional and the views are to die for!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hillside, it was perfect for our family gathering. Lots of space, spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated, well equipped, and views we didn’t want to leave behind.

Hillside Farm is a wonderful property with outstanding views. The housekeeper is very helpful and has kept the property immaculate. It is well equipped and 22 of us enjoyed a fabulous 3 night break.
