Self-catering homestays don’t come more luxurious than a stay at The Stables, near York. Perfect for larger groups, The property sleeps 22 guests and enjoys use of the breathtaking Vale of York estate for walks and relaxation time. Snuggle by the fireplace in the depths of winter or enjoy stunning al-fresco dining in the walled garden on balmy summer evenings. Any time of year, this is a spectacular luxury self-catering property with charming northern flair.

EAT

Dining in at The Stables is a special treat! The large open-plan kitchen offers a living area with comfy sofas around a double-sided log burner, with a large island, wall and floor units, range cooker and dining table for 22 guests. The dining area has large glass doors opening onto the private cobbled courtyard with outdoor seating and is perfect for a summer evening. There is an ancillary kitchen for guests who would like to have caterers in for their event or gathering, however, if you would like to hire any external suppliers or caterers please let us know as we have a set list we can provide. Please note no other external suppliers will be permitted at the house due to insurance restrictions. When you fancy eating out, The Tickled Trout is a 2.5-mile drive away, serving award-winning food and is very popular with the locals. The Alice Hawthorne in the nearby pretty village of Nun Monkton is also a fantastic local place to dine out.

SLEEP

The Stables offers 9 double bedrooms, all with ensuite bathrooms. On the Ground Floor there are 4 twin rooms with ensuite bathrooms and the First Floor has 5 double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. Original features with exposed brick remain throughout including the striking stone stairs leading up to the first floor accommodation. The separate Laundry Cottage comprises 2 double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a kitchen with a dining area and a sitting room all on the ground floor. This cottage can also be booked separately for a smaller group.

RELAX

The Stables is an extremely relaxing place to stay with plenty of places to cosy down and enjoy unforgettable moments with special friends and family. You can put your feet up with a warm drink in front of the double-sided log burner, while on the other side, you will find the bar and snooker room. The original carriage room has been converted into a sitting room with a 60″ Smart TV and large comfy sofas to relax on. Outside, you can make the most of being situated in the beautiful private estate, and enjoy the private cobbled courtyard with outdoor seating and hot tub, which is included in the price.

EXPLORE

The house is located on a privately owned Estate in the Vale of York, between York and Harrogate. There are many public footpaths on the Estate for you to enjoy peaceful walks and dogs are very welcome to join too! While staying here, you are within easy reach of popular North Yorkshire attractions including Castle Howard, Harewood House, Scampston Hall and Gardens, Fountains Abbey and Newby Hall and Gardens, Beningbrough Hall and the Yorkshire Coast.

GROUND FLOOR

Guests enter through the front door, from a large car parking area, into the kitchen which offers a large open plan living area with sofas around the log burner. Beyond this a dining area with seating for 22 guests that opens out onto a private cobbled courtyard with outdoor seating and hot tub.
A double-sided log burner warms the kitchen and Tack Room with the original tack room cupboards and now hosts the Bar area and Pool Table.
There is an ancillary kitchen for guests who would like to have caterers in for their event or gathering.
A 60” Smart TV is located in the old Carriage Room with large comfy sofas.
Original features remain throughout including the stone stairs to the first floor accommodation.
Exposed brick is a beautiful feature throughout the building.
The Victorian Stable block offers over 6500 sq ft to enjoy! The Stable block is serviced by ground source heating and underfloor heating throughout the ground floor. Radiators are in the first floor bedrooms and all bathrooms offer underfloor heating.
There are 4 twin rooms, all ensuite on the Ground Floor.

FIRST FLOOR

The stone staircase with brick walls and original features leads up to the first floor where there are 5 double bedrooms all with ensuite bathrooms.

LAUNDRY COTTAGE

Laundry Cottage is next door to The Stables and accessed from The Stables courtyard with two double bedrooms, one double and one twin both with ensuite bathrooms. Please note the double bedroom has a roll top bath in the bedroom with a separate ensuite shower room.

There is a fully fitted kitchen with dining area and separate sitting room with smart tv.

EXTERIOR

The Walled Garden, set in 21/2 acres,  is a newly designed and landscaped Walled Garden offering a space of beauty and tranquility and available to you during your stay.  There are many public footpaths on the Estate for you to enjoy and dogs are welcome.
Botanicum is a stunning event barn which is available for events, weddings and parties. Please enquire for more information.

The Stables is located 7 miles from York, 7 miles from Wetherby, 16 miles from Harrogate and 27 miles from Leeds close to the A64 and A1 in The Vale of York with easy access to The Yorkshire Dales and The North York Moors.

The Stables is within easy reach of Castle Howard, Harewood House, Scampston Hall and Gardens, Fountains Abbey and Newby Hall and Gardens, Beningbrough Hall and the Yorkshire Coast.

Everything you would need supplied. Would definitely recommend. One of the best houses I have ever stayed in.

Kitchen very well equipped, and spacious. The house was spotlessly clean and well set out. I would definitely recommend, and hopefully will return again at some point.

The space was perfect for our big family holiday and the hot tub was an added bonus! Thank you, we would definitely stay there again!
