Dating right back to 1727, Howesyke is a traditional Yorkshire Dales farmhouse, which is beautifully decorated and enjoys stunning views from the large terrace and garden. The stone farmhouse sits right behind Bishopdale Beck and is set back against the fells with the land dramatically rising to 1400 feet behind it. This rural retreat offers the perfect self-catering accommodation for a large group with all the amenities you need to enjoy a luxurious stay.
The large, open-plan kitchen/dining room has a dining table that seats 18 guests, an L-shaped sofa to relax on and a large kitchen island with casual seating. The Kitchen boasts a large American-style fridge, a wine fridge, two electric ovens, an induction hob and a microwave, so it’s perfectly equipped for your large group. French doors lead out from the Kitchen onto the terrace, with seating and the use of a large BBQ. If you fancy dining out, The Street Head Inn is just half a mile away offering a carvery and traditional pub food.
Howesyke has been recently extended and modernised to create a beautiful farmhouse with 8 modern bedrooms on the first floor. Three of which can be made up as either doubles or twins. A separate and equally delightful Bothy is just a few yards from the garden door, which offers a further private and spacious ground-floor bedroom and bathroom. Despite the recent renovation and modernisation, Howesyke has not lost any of the charm of its original farmhouse features.
With plenty of space to relax and restore, Howesyke is just as ideal for relaxation as it is for exploring the Dales. A large lounge is situated in the centre of the house with cosy sofas, armchairs and a glowing log burner. The space also benefits from three large windows overlooking the gardens and beautiful views of Bishopdale. The Games Barn is a peaceful 10-minute walk away and provides a perfect space to play snooker or ping pong. This private barn is available to hire separately and is also suitable for yoga, retreats and meetings. Please get in touch for availability and cost. Hot tub hire is also available via our team for a small additional cost.
A short distance between Kettlewell and Leyburn, Howesyke is also just a 5-minute drive from the breathtaking Aysgarth Falls and is close to a network of public footpaths inviting you to explore the Dales countryside and villages by foot. The house is also a perfect stopover for cyclists, situated on the 2014 Tour de Yorkshire route with good access to Hawes, Grassington, Buckden Pike, The Yorkshire Three Peaks and Grassington. The spa town of Harrogate is one hour’s drive away.

This property is absolutely beautiful and immaculately maintained. It was the perfect venue to host a family gathering for my mum’s 70th. We all had a very special weekend!
We had a fantastic stay at Howesyke farm. The house was beautiful and spotless, the rooms were all finished to a high quality with modern bathrooms. The location was peaceful and private and gave access to some fantastic walks and is close to a number of local attractions. We received a warm welcome and were shown around all facilities and all of our needs / requests were accommodated. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.
An Amazing place for a family or friends gathering.
We stayed at the house for a weekend and it was outstanding in every respect. The decor, appliances and amenities were all the best you can get. On arrival we received a welcome hamper and a cake which was phenomenal. We really couldn’t fault it.
The house is beautiful and the photos don’t do justice to how gorgeous the house is inside, it is an absolute dream! Yorkshire Escapes were on hand all weekend, only a text message away should we have needed anything. I would recommend this place as a holiday to anyone, it feels very cosy and homely so is a perfect choice for large or small groups. My only regret is that we didn’t stay for longer, as after 3 nights, none of us wanted to leave!
Lovely break in this stunning house. Comfortable, clean and warm. Peaceful and remote! Definitely recommend. Thank you.
We loved our stay at Howesyke! The house was immaculate and the location stunning. Highly recommend for family gatherings.
We stayed here with a group of 14 to celebrate my Dad’s 70th, and I can’t speak highly enough about the place – it was absolutely beautiful. For such a large group, we still had more space than we needed in some respects… the property is very well equipped, has amazing facilities and is just stunning, in incredible surroundings, too. My family and all the guests were blown away by how lovely it was.
