Nestled in the sleepy, medieval village of East Tanfield you will find The Coach House – offering luxury self-catering accommodation in the heart of North Yorkshire. Just seven miles from the delights of historic Ripon, the house has been renovated to an extremely high standard and features four spacious double bedrooms, an open-plan living area with log burner, and relaxing private gardens to enjoy with your group. 

EAT

The Coach House’s stunning open-plan kitchen/dining room is where you can prepare and enjoy cosy meals with your whole group. The sitting room, which is furnished with plush sofas and a log burner, also leads out to a patio and garden area which is ideal for outdoor dining and BBQs. Fancy heading to the pub? The house is only a short distance from local pubs The Bruce Arms and The Bull Inn, where you can dine on traditional British pub fayre and sample local ales. 

SLEEP

With luxurious accommodation for 8 guests, it will be hard to choose your favourite room from the 4 beautiful bedrooms – all featuring super king-size zip and link beds that can be separated into singles if needed. Two of the bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms, while the other two share a spacious and contemporary family bathroom. For those requiring more space, the nearby Curlew Cottage is available, accommodating up to a further 6 guests with 3 double bedrooms.

RELAX

The house is perfect for relaxing, with plush sofas, a log burner, and a Smart TV to enjoy cosy movie nights together after a long, active day. French doors open up to the patio and a lovely fenced garden, providing a peaceful setting to unwind, read a good book and enjoy a Yorkshire brew!

EXPLORE

The local area offers an exciting range of local attractions for all ages, including Fountains Abbey, Ripley Castle, Ripon Cathedral and Hackfall Forest. It’s ideally situated between the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors, which is perfect for exploring the natural beauty of the region and great for keen hikers and cyclists.

Ground Floor

Guest enter into a hallway with downstairs cloakroom. The door leads into large open plan Kitchen/Sitting Room with large comfy sofas, and french doors to the garden.

First Floor

A staircase leads you to the first floor, where you’ll find 4 double bedrooms. Each room has zip and link beds that can be configured as a king-size or split into singles, providing versatile accommodation that suits your needs.

On the right side of the hallway, you’ll discover two ensuite bedrooms, while the two bedrooms on the left share the family bathroom located at the end of the landing.

Outside Space at Coach House

To the left of the house, you will find a fenced grassed garden with a small patio area that includes outdoor table and chairs for your enjoyment. Additionally, there is a charcoal BBQ available for your use.

Northallerton Train Station: 18 miles away with Mainline trains.

York Train Station: 30 miles away with links to London and Edinburgh.

We enjoyed a lovely stay in the Coach House, a warm and cosy home for a relaxing Xmas break. Large and well furnished living space, open plan for easy movement between kitchen, dining area and lounge. All 4 bedrooms spacious with comfy king-sized beds.

Lovely place to stay for a family getaway. The coach house is lovely and so spacious for 8 people. It was clean and well-stocked with essentials. We would definitely visit again!

We loved this property . Perfect for groups or families. The decor was perfect and the open plan worked well for us. Plenty of hot water and kitchen has most of the things we needed to eat in. Lots to do in the area, both pubs were great for food . Hope to come again .

Clear communication prior with regards to bed configurations and notes in advance of our stay. Easy to understand instructions on how to find and access the property. A very enjoyable stay. Plenty to see locally to unwind and explore.

We were so fortunate to stay in this beautiful house, set in such a quiet and peaceful area. The house is tastefully furnished, spotlessly clean, and the large beds are incredibly comfortable, with lovely linens and bath towels. The well-equipped kitchen and the convenience of having a washing machine and dryer were a real bonus! Easy drive to Ripon. Pubs in West Tanfield only 1.5 miles away!

We went to the Coach House to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday with the whole family. 3 generations (plus dog). The house is stunning. Beautifully renovated and furnished. Very spacious with an enormous lounge/kitchen/diner were everyone can congregate and chat. Bedrooms were all very comfortable with enormous beds – you can either have it as 4 doubles as we did or the beds can be separated into singles for a twin room. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to visit Yorkshire as a large family group and hope to come back soon.

We spent a long weekend at the Coach house for a family event. The facilities were superb and the location absolutely spot on. The room and space within the house meant that we weren’t on top of one another even with grandkids running about! We had a meal at the pub nearby although not walkable was only a short drive in the car. Ripon is just up the road too. I would have no hesitation in visiting here again as all our group had a really enjoyable stay and loved the place.

Beautiful, peaceful location with easy access to North Yorkshire. Although we don’t live in the area we know it well and were able to get easy access to where we wished to visit. The surroundings with the Coach House were very tasteful and had everything we needed. The bedrooms were spacious with lovely interior decorations and bathrooms. The electric fans were a welcome addition. We loved watching the hares in the cow field behind in the evening.

Very beautiful house with great facilities. Perfect for a family with small children, the garden is completely enclosed and there is a very nice utility room with a drying cabinet! There were views onto fields full of cows and it is very peaceful. The house is really well located for days out in Yorkshire and there are two nice pubs in the neighbouring village. The house is very well appointed with high quality bedding and towels, everything has been nicely done, overall a very luxurious holiday home. We would highly recommend this house.

We had a wonderful stay at the Coach House last week, the property was ideal for what we needed (5 adults, 1 toddler & dog). The decoration was lovely with comfy sofas and beds, the powerful fans in each room were also very welcomed in the heat last week. The location is ideal for exploring the Yorkshire Dales and communication from the owner was excellent throughout the booking process and afterwards.

Absolutely loved our stay here. Loads of room (there were 5 adults, 3 kids and 2 big dogs). House is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Kitchen was very well equipped, Bedrooms are good sizes, bed very comfortable and views are lovely. Very peaceful and quiet surroundings. Wish we could have stayed longer but would return in a heartbeat.

We spent 5 wonderful days here and couldn’t have been happier. The cottage was spotless, beautifully decorated, and had everything we could possibly need. Situated on an active farm, it still felt private and peaceful, with a secure garden that was perfect for our dogs. The location was ideal—quiet countryside with lovely walks. The hosts were warm, welcoming, and thoughtful, providing great recommendations and lots of little touches.The beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen was fully equipped for longer stays. Our dogs loved exploring the garden. Overall, this was the perfect mix of comfort, charm, and convenience. We highly recommend this stay to anyone looking for a relaxing, pet-friendly retreat. We left refreshed and wished we could’ve extended our stay!

Everything was wonderful – we loved the walk to the pubs in West Tanfield and even hiked over the Masham to try out the White Bear on Saturday afternoon.

A wonderful quiet, rural location ! About a 30-40 minute walk to The Bull Inn in West Tanfield, a really welcoming pub, and great walks along the River Ure and through the countryside. The house itself is superb – love the large open plan downstairs area, and the bedrooms upstairs are very clean with comfortable beds too ! Would go again in a heartbeat ! Thank you.

Our family had a lovely time at the coach house, this was our second visit it is so peaceful and quiet in the middle of the country. The standard of the accommodation is brilliant with everything you could ask for, fluffy white towels and crisp cotton sheets. Plenty of room for a family of 7.

The Coach House was in rural and quiet surroundings next to farmland but was beautiful and peaceful. The house was lovely and bright with all the utilities for a family stay. We loved it and would definitely recommend it.
