You’ll also find some tasty local treats waiting for you on arrival including tea, coffee, fresh bread, butter, jam, eggs, and a bottle of Yorkshire wine, so there’s no need to leave your lodge for a while. The intimate table for two is positioned perfectly for you to drink in the sweeping views beyond the glass doors as you eat, or just step outside to the covered veranda if you fancy dining al fresco – whatever the weather. The outdoor Ninja Pizza oven invites relaxed dining as the sun sets over the Vale of York.

The light-filled living area at the far end of the lodge offers a peaceful space to settle in, whether that’s curling up on the sofa by the electric fire, listening to your favourite tunes or gazing out through the floor-to-ceiling windows at the rolling meadows. Step outside and the experience becomes even more special. On your private veranda, a freestanding outdoor bath tub awaits for long, indulgent soaks beneath the stars while you share stories and make plans for the following day. Sinking into warm water and bubbles with a glass of Yorkshire wine in hand is a moment that feels quietly unforgettable. Your private garden is also dotted with wildflowers and lined with blossoming trees, so you can enjoy the soft aromas as you bathe.

While it may be very tempting to stay cocooned in your retreat for your entire stay, the surrounding landscape invites a little gentle exploration. Taras Sarn is perfectly placed just a few miles from the lovely market town of Easingwold, dotted with independent shops and cafes to meander into. Culture lovers can discover the nearby ruins of Byland Abbey and Rievaulx Abbey, while the historic cities of York, Harrogate, and Ripon are all within easy reach for day trips and shopping. If you’re a couple who love exploring by foot or bike, then the Hambleton Hills and the North York Moors unfold on your doorstep – ideal for scenic walks, quiet rambles and exploring the heather-covered landscapes beyond.

By Road

Easingwold is just off the A19, midway between York and Thirsk. From the A19, follow signs into Easingwold, then take Spring Street, right into Uppleby and left onto Oulston Road. Turn left into Thornton Lane and the property is on your right.

By Rail

The two closest train stations are York (approx. 28km’s away), with frequent connections to London, Edinburgh, Leeds, and Manchester. And, Thirsk Station, which is around 22km’s away. Taxis are available at both stations.

By Air

Leeds Bradford Airport is the closest international airport, located approximately 35 miles away from Easingwold.

• This is an adults-only retreat and is pet-free. If you would like to enjoy exploring the area with your dogs, there is a local luxury boarding kennels, only 2.5 miles away.
• Living area features a smart TV, a DAB radio with Bluetooth, a bookcase, a comfortable sprung sofa, and a loveseat, allowing you to relax by the electric fire.
• The spacious kitchen area is fully equipped with a barista coffee machine, Nutri Bullet, electric hob, oven, microwave/grill, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and an extensive collection of utensils, including a garlic press, pestle and mortar, slow cooker, and rolling pin—everything you need to whip up culinary masterpieces.

• The double bedroom is equipped with ample storage from the two wardrobes and bedside cabinets. Adorned with luxurious linens and a wonderfully soft mattress atop a sprung bed base.
• Attached to the bedroom, guests will discover a spacious en-suite bathroom. Featuring a WC, ample storage, his-and-hers sinks, and a generous walk-in shower equipped with a rainfall showerhead and adjustable heads.
• Patio doors from the dining/living area lead out to an enclosed decked patio with a covered veranda, kitchen area with a ninja combi pizza oven/grill/air-fryer.
• Guests can also enjoy picking their own complimentary herbs, strawberries, tomatoes, and peppers on the veranda when in season.
