Slow mornings and long, lingering evenings come naturally here at Taras Sarn Lodge. The beautiful kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare a simple breakfast or an indulgent dinner for two. With special touches throughout, like a barista coffee machine, NutriBullet, and an array of quality cookware, making meals together will be a dream. You’ll also find some tasty local treats waiting for you on arrival including tea, coffee, fresh bread, butter, jam, eggs, and a bottle of Yorkshire wine, so there’s no need to leave your lodge for a while. The intimate table for two is positioned perfectly for you to drink in the sweeping views beyond the glass doors as you eat, or just step outside to the covered veranda if you fancy dining al fresco – whatever the weather. The outdoor Ninja pizza oven also invites relaxed dining as the sun sets over the Vale of York. During your stay, you can pop into the estate’s own farm shop (open Fridays and Saturdays) to pick up freshly baked artisan breads, free-range meats, recipes boxes and delicious traybakes. Alternatively, you can have have your shopping delivered directly to your lodge, so there’s no need to even get out of your dressing gown!
Designed as a signature suite for honeymoons in Yorkshire, Taras Sarn Lodge is a complete sanctuary of rest and romance. The bedroom is a calm and cocooning space dressed in soft neutrals and gentle hues to echo the landscape beyond. The sumptuous mattress and high-quality linens ensure a deeply restful night’s sleep. And, with ample storage and luxury touches throughout, everything has been carefully considered so you can fully switch off and unwind together in absolute peace.
Life slows down the moment you arrive. The light-filled living area at the far end of the lodge offers a peaceful space to settle in, whether that’s curling up on the sofa by the electric fire, listening to your favourite tunes or gazing out through the floor-to-ceiling windows at the rolling meadows. Step outside and the experience becomes even more special. On your private veranda, a freestanding outdoor bath tub awaits for long, indulgent soaks beneath the stars while you share stories and make plans for the following day. Sinking into warm water and bubbles with a glass of Yorkshire wine in hand is a moment that feels quietly unforgettable. Your private garden is also dotted with wildflowers and lined with blossoming trees, so you can enjoy the soft aromas as you bathe. Taras Sarn is run entirely on solar and wind power, meaning you can relax even further in the knowledge that you’re supporting the planet.
While it may be very tempting to stay cocooned in your retreat for your entire stay, the surrounding landscape invites a little gentle exploration. Taras Sarn is perfectly placed just a few miles from the lovely market town of Easingwold, dotted with independent shops and cafes to meander into. Culture lovers can discover the nearby ruins of Byland Abbey and Rievaulx Abbey – both located nearby and well worth a visit. Venture slightly east to discover the charming towns of Malton and Pickering, as well as the scenic coastline, while the historic cities of York, Harrogate, and Ripon are all within easy reach for day trips and shopping. If you’re a couple who love exploring by foot or bike, then the Hambleton Hills and the beauty of the North York Moors National Park unfold on your doorstep – ideal for scenic cycles, quiet rambles and simply exploring the heather-covered landscapes beyond.

We had a wonderful weekend stay at Taras Sarn for our anniversary. Spacious and spotless throughout, it’s furnished and finished to a very high standard. The location is great for easy access into York for the day (only 20 mins to York Park & Ride) and also towards towns like Helmsley, but it is beautifully quiet. The perfect break, we will be back again soon.

Beautiful accommodation with the most amazing view across the Vale of York, especially from the outdoor bath. Decorated and furnished to a very high standard, there was nothing we were short of.  There are two excellent pubs within walking distance and a farm shop on the estate, meaning we didn’t have to stress about driving anywhere. We contacted them ahead of time, and they arranged for all of our food to be delivered to the property. No stress of parking as there is a designated space, plus surplus parking if required. Can highly recommend this fabulous place.
