The kitchen is modern, stylish, and filled with everything you need to create chilled morning breakfasts to memory-filled dinner parties. All kitchen accessories are premium quality – from the Bosch appliances to the Nespresso coffee machine (with complimentary pods) and the drawers are filled with all the tools you need to prepare beautifully home-cooked feasts. Slide open the bi-fold doors and enjoy indoor/outdoor dining at its finest overlooking the beautiful river Nidd. There is also a further, fully-equipped kitchenette in the private Grotto Suite, as well as a counter-top dining area for relaxed meals.

With three chic bedrooms to choose from, all six of your guests can enjoy boutique hotel comforts and restful night sleeps. The carefully designed interiors combine neutral colour palettes and plush accessories to create the ultimate in relaxation and luxury.

The Grotto King Suite: Carved into the cliffside, this dreamy hideaway is like no other. With bi-fold doors opening to a beautiful balcony, a log burner, record player, Smart TV, and a luxurious ensuite, you can enjoy all the perks of a five star hotel with the added benefit of complete privacy.

The Master King Bedroom: Perched at the top of the house, this peaceful retreat features a soaring southerly view, ambient lighting, soft oak floors, and a restful reading nook. It’s the room to choose to escape, unwind, and enjoy the perfect sleep.

The First-Floor Double: Bathed in natural morning light, this room is perfect for lovely lie ins and slow morning starts. Decorated with a handy full-length mirror, bedside lighting, and storage, it’s both practical and peaceful.

Family bathroom: Set in the roof line with a dormer window, the family bathroom is spacious and modern with warm LED lighting, a walk-in shower, bath, wc & basin, complimentary toiletries, hairdryer and a backlit de-misting mirror.

Need a little extra space? A comfy sofa bed can be provided in the first-floor living room for two additional guests upon request.

From the moment you step through the jewel green door and into the welcoming entrance hall, you’ll feel it – Tawny Nook is a truly special place, designed for complete rest and relaxation. Start your stay off by settling in the snug, where Scandi design meets Yorkshire warmth. Snuggle onto the Bo-Concept sofa with a mug of tea and throw a few logs on the fire on cooler days for added cosiness. A further lounge area can be found on the second floor, which is centred around taking time out and switching off from busy life – enjoy sun-light filled mornings here with a book, with the French doors onto the balcony connecting you with the high views above the gorge. Light the wood burner and choose a board game or simply listen to your favourite classics playing from the record player. The ground floor terrace is a lovely private area with seating to relax and watch the world go by – being a gorgeous sun trap there is also the option to use the electric sun awning. Slow-start morning coffees are also a must at the little balcony breakfast table for two in the Grotto. Throughout the house, soft lighting, and cosy corners to retreat to make it the ultimate holiday home for R&R.

EXPLORE

With a southerly 180° view that sweeps right across from Knaresborough Castle to the iconic 1851 viaduct, the neighbourhood beckons to be explored from the moment you arrive at Tawny Nook. Start your day with a stroll through the charming market town, grab some fresh pastries and a coffee from one of the many independent bakeries or riverside cafés and pop into the shops to pick up second-hand books, keepsakes and locally-produced gifts. In just ten to fifteen minutes you can either be in the centre of Harrogate for fine dining, beautiful gardens and luxury shopping or taking a stunning walk through Nidd Gorge surrounding by the aroma of wild garlic and blankets of bluebells. The historic city of York is also a short drive or a mere 30 minute train ride away with regular trains from Knaresborough each day.

• Tawny Nook comes with a complimentary exclusive parking space just across the railway line by St John’s Church. Details will be given in the arrival details this is 3 minutes drive away and 5 minutes walk.
• In addition the streets of Knaresborough have a Council Disk parking set up which is time restricted (depends on the street) but usually free after 6 pm and before 8 am (please check the rules on the signs) and also several car parks with a modest hourly or 24 hour parking charge .
• Starter pack of Nespresso Vertuo pods; teas; cereals; Jams& spreads. Please note that if you bring your own pods you will need to make sure they are for the Nespresso Vertuo.
• Tawny Nook comes with a brand new Air Fryer.

GROUND FLOOR

Guests enter the house into the hallway with a couple of steps up to the relaxing snug with a Smart tv and a log burner.  Then onto the kitchen with dining table and large glass doors opening to the terrace with comfy outdoor furniture, electric awning and panoramic views.

FIRST FLOOR

A door leads from the kitchen to the staircase up to the first floor. Here you will find a double bedroom and a sitting room with south-facing balcony overlooking the river, a record player, Sonos speaker, Smart tv and log burner.

SECOND FLOOR

A further staircase takes you from the first floor up to the second floor with a luxurious master king bedroom and family bathroom with a bath and walk-in shower. There is also a Smart TV and a relaxing reading area

GROTTO KING SUITE

Stairs lead down from the entrance hall to the Grotto king suite with bed, en-suite, open plan sitting area, log burner and smart tv. Glass doors take you out to the balcony with seating. There is a separate entrance into the suite leading straight out onto the street (details of access to this will be in the welcome pack)

BALCONIES

The balcony in the basement Grotto king suite and the ground floor terrace have comfy outdoor furniture. The first floor sitting room has doors opening to a balcony overlooking the river.

For guests arriving by car, a private parking space is included, just a short walk away. Your personal key code and digital fob make check-in seamless and secure.

Absolute gem of a house. Warm, comfortable, beautifully furnished. Stunning views over the river, viaduct, castle and autumnal woodland. Plenty to do nearby – lots of walking and outdoor pursuits. Would love to revisit!

Hands down the best Airbnb I’ve ever stayed at. The location, the amenities, everything! You can tell alot of thought was put into every single detail of the property. Like every sq cm of the property was used to 100% of its potential. The host was extremely responsive and helpful and the book provided gave great insights into the property. And the view! Beautifully furnished and comfortable.  Most outstanding views of the river and so peaceful whilst still being close to the centre of Knaresborough.  Train station is a two minute stroll away, with trains to Harrogate and York.  We loved our stay and will definitely be back.
