Slide open the bi-fold doors and enjoy indoor/outdoor dining at its finest overlooking the beautiful river Nidd. There is also a further, fully-equipped kitchenette in the private Grotto Suite, as well as a counter-top dining area for relaxed meals.

Light the wood burner and choose a board game or simply listen to your favourite classics playing from the record player. The ground floor terrace is a lovely private area with seating to relax and watch the world go by – being a gorgeous sun trap there is also the option to use the electric sun awning. Slow-start morning coffees are also a must at the little balcony breakfast table for two in the Grotto. With a southerly 180° view that sweeps right across from Knaresborough Castle to the iconic 1851 viaduct, the neighbourhood beckons to be explored from the moment you arrive at Tawny Nook. Start your day with a stroll through the charming market town, grab some fresh pastries and a coffee from one of the many independent bakeries or riverside cafés and pop into the shops to pick up second-hand books, keepsakes and locally-produced gifts. In just ten to fifteen minutes you can either be in the centre of Harrogate for fine dining, beautiful gardens and luxury shopping or taking a stunning walk through Nidd Gorge surrounding by the aroma of wild garlic and blankets of bluebells. The historic city of York is also a short drive or a mere 30 minute train ride away with regular trains from Knaresborough each day.
