Middlefield Cottage is a one-bedroom holiday cottage located near Malton in North Yorkshire offering a perfect countryside escape. Newly decorated, it features a modern kitchen, a cosy sitting room, and French doors leading to the garden with a hot tub, BBQ, and seating area.

Westow Village is home to excellent local dining options. The Blacksmith’s Arms Pub is just 2 miles away, offering traditional British pub fare in a welcoming setting. Alternatively, head to the nearby Stone Trough Inn at Kirkham Abbey, where you can enjoy hearty meals while soaking in the tranquil village atmosphere. For a wider range of dining experiences, Malton, known as the “Food Capital of Yorkshire,” is just 6 miles away and boasts gourmet restaurants, cafes, and food markets. Or cook at the property with your own BBQ (starter amount of charcoal provided, please bring any additional charcoal with you)

You’re perfectly located for exploring the stunning Ryedale countryside and beyond. Just a short drive away is Castle Howard – a magnificent stately home with gardens to explore. Visit the Yorkshire Arboretum or the historic Kirkham Abbey where you can wander through picturesque ruins. For those seeking more historic adventure, Eden Camp offers a fascinating WWII experience. The cottage is also within easy reach of famous sites such as Harewood House, Scampston Hall, and the coastal towns of Whitby and Scarborough.

Ground Floor

Entering through the front door of Middlefield Cottage hallway the kitchen/dining room with fridge, freezer, electric oven and hob.

The room on the next left is the sitting room with comfy sofa’s, log burner and TV with french doors to garden.

At the end of the hallway on the left is the bedroom with king size zip and link bed and the family bathroom with shower is on the right.

Exterior

French doors lead out from the sitting room to the garden with hot tub, seating and bbq.

There is parking next to the cottage.

Malton train station is 6 miles & York train station is 15 miles away with direct train service to the north and south

Our cottage in Westow was beautifully equipped and presented. The location was secluded and gave us all the privacy we desired. Our hosts popped round to welcome us and farewell us but otherwise left us alone. A great kitchen, comfy bed, big shower and easy to use log burner. The hot tub was the icing on the cake. Great location for the coast the Wolds and the moors. As good a cottage as we’ve ever had.

This is a place that you will not want to leave. You will have everything you need, plus extra unexpected surprises that really elevate the experience. I had high expectations, and yet they were exceeded. The bed was very spacious and comfortable, the fireplace was cozy and the hot tub was on all the time. The hosts were very welcoming and made a great effort to make sure we had everything we needed. If you are looking for a property around York, this is where you need to stay.

Middlefield Cottage was perfect! We stayed over the Christmas holiday and could not have hoped for better. We cooked a full Christmas dinner and everything we needed was in the kitchen. The cottage is really cosy with wonderful views and so many quirky items to look at. The hosts were so welcoming and the only downside was having to leave😊 Would recommend you take binoculars because we saw hares, pheasants and deer on the other side of the garden fence.

We had an absolutely fantastic time here. The place was absolutely spotlessly clean, comfortable bed and very tastefully designed. The hosts were so lovely. The little arcade machines on the hallway wall were a cool little touch, and the hot tub was amazing. We will definitely return here in a heartbeat. Thank you again!

Beautiful, private property with tons of wildlife in the surrounding fields. This was the perfect spot for a quiet getaway, to relax in the hot tub or read a book. The cottage itself was very clean, and very well equipped. Bed very comfy & hosts very responsive. There’s also loads to do in the surrounding areas if you fancy a day trip out. We made a visit to Castle Howard which was only a short 20 minute drive from the property.

The cottage was lovely-set in a quiet and peaceful location. The kitchen was well appointed and the property well decorated throughout. The owners were lovely and very helpful and left a lovely welcome package. Yorkshire Escapes were really proactive in their dealings with us. We had an excellent stay and would return again.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this gorgeous property. The hosts had thought of everything and this was my favourite place I have stayed in. I solo travelled and found the place to be cosy and tranquil, and I felt very safe the whole time I was here. The meadow behind the property was a lovely place to watch while sitting in the hot tub too – I saw deer, hares and even a cat with its caught prize in its mouth. I will hopefully return here in the future as it really is a special place. Thank you!

We found a real Gem in Middlefield Cottage, it was everything we wanted and more, in a peaceful, scenic location, perfect for visiting York city and north Yorkshire coastal town’s. The host’s left a lovely hamper of treat’s and were near by and very helpful if we needed anything, but we still felt very private and not overlooked. It was amazing to come back to the lovely hot tub after a day out, so relaxing, with beautiful view’s of the countryside, we even saw Deer and Hare’s in the near by field just over our garden fence. We would definitely recommend Middlefield Cottage and hope to return again sometime.

We had the most beautiful and relaxing stay. We met the hosts who were just so kind and attentive. The photographs do not do this gorgeous place justice. Such a beautiful space, we felt at home the moment we arrived. I enjoyed a glass of wine over looking the meadow and watching the deer. The cottage was well equipped and had absolutely everything.
Unfortunately our trip was cut two days short due to unforeseen circumstances at home, that means we will be back. If anyone wants the perfect place to unwind and relax, it is Middlefield.

Well, what can I say after our stay here, It was just perfect, The location is great with nothing around you, just the sound of the countryside. There are a couple of villages a short drive away which have everything you need to make your stay from pubs to shops and I highly recommend the farm shops close to the property. We arrived and got to meet the owner who was beyond friendly and approachable, showing us proudly around. The bed was a dream to sleep in, Probably one of the best nights sleep me and my partner have had in a long time. The Hot tub was also perfect with fantastic views, we were also lucky enough to see 2 deer during our stay as well as other wildlife. The home is kitted out with everything you need and beyond, From a dishwasher to picnic equipment for you to borrow. The home is modern with a country feeling with quirky items dotted around and spotlessly clean. I have already recommended this to family and friends. Its a total gem and it was a pleasure to stay!!

I enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing, peaceful holiday in this comfortable cottage. The hosts are very welcoming and made sure I’d settled in. The kitchen is well equipped, so I was able to prepare meals easily, and then enjoy my evenings with a glass of wine and watch the deer and hares outside the lounge window. The hot tub also benefits from the excellent view, while still being private. Well located for trips to the coast or moors I would recommend this as a base for exploring this part of Yorkshire.

A fabulous stay in a gorgeous location. The cottage had everything we needed, every detail had been thought of. We visited York, Staithes Whitby and went on the NYMR, as the cottage is in a perfect location to get to them all. The deer and hares were great fun to watch. The hot tub is an added bonus. Hosts were welcoming, helpful and friendly, we really enjoyed getting to know them. Thank you, we had a brilliant time.

My girlfriend and I stayed here recently and we had a lovely relaxing stay. The cottage is set in a beautiful location with amazing views and lovely decor. The hot tub and the wood burner were lovely touches and made our stay very comfortable and cosy! It’s situated in a great place if you’re planning to explore the nearby towns and cities too. This really is a gem of an AirBnb, if you’re looking for a private escape in idyllic surroundings then this is for you. The property is spotless and very well equipped and the private hot tub is an absolute bonus, the area is very peaceful and has easy access to some very quaint villages and only 25 mins from York. The hosts were extremely nice and very helpful. We will certainly be coming back!

The cottage was lovely and had everything we needed for our stay. The decor was charming and the bed incredibly comfortable. The hot tub was a special treat especially after mountain biking. Great pubs nearby selling yummy food and lots of interesting historical places to visit. We loved hearing the owl outside, saw a hare and enjoyed watching the bats at dusk. Excellent and just perfect! Had an amazing for our first wedding anniversary. Visited York for the day and Robin Hood bay and Whitby for the day. Great location. Very peaceful and private and the hot tub was fabulous. The cottage was furnished to a very high standard and extremely clean. It had every home comfort you would want. We had a lovely stay at Middlefield Cottage! It is a fantastic place which is in beautiful surroundings for cosy nights in the hot tub, whilst being a short drive for fantastic days out including York.

We had a wonderful relaxing stay! The place was clean, well equipped kitchen, super comfy huge bed, and hot tub was amazing with beautiful views. Attention to detail like little welcome hamper, milk, tea and coffee stocked plus robes and slides for the tub make all the difference to a comfortable and welcoming stay. If you like your privacy as we do, don’t hesitate! The place was completely private and not overlooked at all.

Amazing place, just what we wanted a nice peaceful place, lovely views, had everything we needed and more, amazing hot tub, hosts were amazing really friendly and made sure we were well looked after.

Beautiful house. Clean with all kitchenware etc if you want to cook. Hot tub was absolutely stunning-perfect temperature, ready to use. Would definitely recommend for a romantic couples get away, we will definitely come back in the future and recommend to friends.

Had a wonderful holiday at Middlefield Cottage. The cottage was beautiful and had everything and more that we could possibly need. The setting was just perfect! A great location to explore the surrounding areas. The perfect place to sit, relax and switch off from the world.

We booked a weekend stay here for our anniversary. The location generally is fantastic with a brilliant view out over the North Yorkshire countryside, and as the cottage itself is situated in the grounds of Middlefield house it’s completely secluded and great for a getaway We couldn’t have asked for anything more and the hosts were brilliant. Will definitely be back next year!

Had a wonderful weekend away at Middlefield cottage. Fabulous scenery, private garden ,nice hot tub, beds were very comfy, and cracking shower. Lovely log burner in the living room made for cost nights in. Ate out so didn’t cook, but the kitchen looked well equipped and nicely organised.

We have just come back from a fantastic 5 nights at Middlefield Cottage. Beautiful cottage with stunning views across the fields. Very comfortable and clean. Very well equipped kitchen with everything you would need. Lovely touch of a “welcome basket” with G&T; croissants, jam, crisps.
