Birkdale House is nestled in the heart of Matson Ground, a stunning 500-hectare expanse of organic farmland and woodland within the Lake District National Park. It’s location is just above Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere and is surrounded by a network of footpaths offering access to some of the most breathtaking views of Lake Windermere and the surrounding fells.

From Manchester: 1.5-2 hours via M61 and M6.

From Leeds: 1.5 hours via M62 and M6.

By Plane:

Fly to Manchester Airport (about 80 miles), then take a train or drive to Windermere.

Fly to Leeds Bradford Airport (about 90 miles), then take a train or drive to Windermere.

By Train:

From London: Take a train from London Euston to Oxenholme Lake District, then transfer to a train to Windermere (total journey time ~3.5-4 hours).

From Manchester: Take a train from Manchester Piccadilly to Windermere (about 1.5-2 hours).

From Leeds: Take a train from Leeds to Windermere (about 2 hours, often involves a transfer at Oxenholme).
