Arcadia is a wonderful and spacious 17th-century house in a secluded location on the Broughton Sanctuary, just 3 miles from Skipton. This large luxury holiday home is perfect for friends or family getaways with wonderful walks, cycling routes, a sauna, wild swimming, an outdoor swimming pool, a tennis court and a sunken wood-fired hot tub.
Whether you fancy dining in or out, Arcadia offers it all. The traditionally furnished dining room provides contrasting décor to the stylish and contemporary furnishings throughout the house, allowing all guests to eat together and enjoy special celebrations. The restaurant Utopia in the Sanctuary Walled Garden is available for guests to eat breakfast and lunch in from Monday to Friday, while The Bull Pub and Restaurant can be reached via a brisk walk through the estate grounds.Â
Arcadia comfortably sleeps eleven guests in six bedrooms split across the house with two on the ground floor level. The bedrooms include five doubles, one with a sofa bed and one single bedroom (plus a pull-out double futon in addition that can sleep 2). One staircase leads to just two of the bedrooms and a bathroom. There are two bedrooms and a bathroom on the ground floor as well as level access throughout the house.
Arcadia provides a tranquil retreat away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life but will come alive when filled with your family and friends. The large, high-ceiling sitting rooms provide a wonderful space for everyone to get together and the kitchen is flooded with light from the cathedral-style window and French doors, large central island and breakfast area. The garden has a sunken wood-fired hot tub for 6 guests and a beautiful lawned garden with outdoor seating and wonderful views. Hidden within the two-storey garage is a bar and children’s room, ideal for all guests. Spa treatments are also a firm favourite here for those who want the pampering and indulgence of a luxurious spa in the comfort and privacy of your luxury accommodation. Allow yourself to be transported into a serene sanctuary with a wide range of treatments available to soothe the body and soul and achieve the ultimate in R & R. (These will be available to book once guests have a confirmed property booking).Â
This is a wonderful venue for a sporting break whether for groups of friends or family, team building and corporate events. Activities such as clay pigeon shooting, archery, hot air ballooning, fishing and horse riding can all be arranged on the estate. We can also arrange activities at nearby venues (where applicable), such as quad biking, paintballing, golf, sailing, water skiing, shooting and kayaking. The Sanctuary offers wonderful walks, cycling trails, wild swimming, a sauna, a tennis court and an outdoor swimming pool all available for guests’ use while staying at Arcadia. For a little more adventure, why not book a Land Rover Experience at the course on-site (by direct arrangement with the owner)?
Within 10 miles drive is Malham with its breathtaking 260ft high limestone cove. If you’re feeling fit, climb the steps to the top where you’ll be rewarded with magnificent views down the dale and be able to see one of the finest examples of limestone pavement in the country, which was also used in a scene from one of the Harry Potter films. Alternative easy walks include Gordale Scar, also a film location for Harry Potter.
For a relaxing day out venture further into the Yorkshire Dales to the picturesque villages of Grassington, 12 miles, and Kettlewell, 5 miles further, calling at Kilnsey Trout Farm on the way and a stop off to watch the climbers hang off Kilnsey Crag. Many walks and cycle routes for all abilities can be found here and all around the area.
