Sleeping seven guests in four beautifully designed bedrooms, the property also features an open-plan sitting room, kitchen, and dining area with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the breathtaking countryside. 

EAT

The barn’s bright and airy open-plan kitchen is both spacious and inviting. It features floor-to-ceiling windows with stunning views over the Yorkshire Dales. You and your guests can enjoy delicious meals at the large dining table while taking in the picturesque surroundings. Outside, there’s a private garden with a cosy firepit which is perfect for al fresco dining and enjoying the naked night sky.  Absence Hill is located just four miles away from Skipton, where you’ll find a variety of lovely restaurants, and pubs if you fancy eating out. 

SLEEP

Each of the four bedrooms is luxurious and contemporary with its own ensuite bathroom and unique character. Three of the bedrooms are located on the ground floor, while the fourth bedroom is on the first floor. The rooms feature wood flooring with comforting underfloor heating throughout. This ensures you can all enjoy a warm and cosy environment throughout your stay. 

RELAX

The barn’s homely open-plan sitting room is perfect for unwinding after an active day in the Yorkshire Dales. With ample seating and panoramic views of the rolling countryside, you can enjoy a tranquil rest away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. While staying on the estate you can indulge in nearby activities such as forest bathing, wild swimming and woodland dining to enhance your restoring Yorkshire retreat. 

EXPLORE

With access to over 3,000 acres of woodland, moors, and wildflower meadows, this is the perfect base for exploration and relaxation. While staying here, you’re just a short drive from the bustling market town of Skipton, where you can explore the canal, the castle, and a range of independent shops and cafes. Local North Yorkshire attractions include Bolton Abbey, Brigham Rocks and Hesketh Farm Park. You can also explore the Ribble Valley and Forest of Bowland in Lancashire, just a short drive away.

  • 2 dogs allowed at £25 per dog per stay.
  • There is an EV Charger in the car park next to the restaurant and can be used and there is a charge, please enquire once booked for more information. (Please note this is not in the house car park).
  • The restaurant Utopia in the Sanctuary’s Walled Garden is available for guests to eat breakfast and lunch in from Monday to Friday.
  • Outdoor Swimming Pool and tennis court available to book after confirmed booking.
  • Wild Swimming – there is wild swimming available on the Estate and guests will be given information as to where once they have confirmed their booking.
  • Biking and Walking Trails across the Estate.
  • Wellbeing Centre with indoor swimming pool – guests have access to this between 10am and 12pm every day (£20 per person per day).
  • Sweat Lodge and Saunas available on the Estate and more information and timings will be given to guests once they have confirmed a booking.
  • Activities for you and your guests, both at the property and in the surrounding areas. Spa treatments are a firm favourite for those who desire the pampering and indulgence of a luxurious spa in the comfort and privacy of your luxury accommodation. Allow yourself to be transported into a serene sanctuary with a wide range of the treatments available to sooth the body and soul and achieve the ultimate in R & R. (These will be available to book once guests have a confirmed property booking).
  • A wonderful venue for a sporting break whether for groups of friends or family, team building and corporate events.  We offer activities in the grounds of the estate, such as clay pigeon shooting, archery, hot air ballooning, fishing and horse riding. We can also arrange activities at nearby venues (where applicable), such as quad biking, paint balling, golf, sailing, water skiing, shooting and kayaking.
  • Logs for wood burner included.
  • Travel cot, highchair, Stairgate, BBQ AVAILABLE ON REQUEST once guests have booked.
  • The Bull Pub and Restaurant is on the edge of the Estate and can be booked for meals.

Absence Hill is accessed from the A59 up a long track with wonderful views over the Yorkshire Dales giving easy access to a main road for exploring this spectacular area of the country. Just 4 miles away is the bustling market town of Skipton, with its cobbled high street and thrice weekly market days. The Norman castle will delight young and old alike and a stroll through Skipton woods at any time of year is a true way to bring your family together. If the weather is inclement then there’s a leisure centre, bowling alley, independent cinema and many cosy bars and restaurants suiting all tastes and budgets. Bolton Abbey, Grassington and even Ilkley can all be reached within a 30-minute drive.

If you head along the A59 in the opposite direction you’ll soon be in Lancashire, often overlooked in favour of its neighbour Yorkshire, but boasting some beautiful spots within the Ribble Valley and Forest of Bowland, all accessible within 30 minutes’ drive. Shops and restaurants 4 miles, and pubs serving food 1 mile away.
