Woodside is a beautifully renovated original Gamekeepers holiday cottage nestled in the heart of the Harewood Estate woodland. Surrounded by serene paths to explore, this peaceful, dog-friendly retreat offers a perfect blend of nature and adventure. Whether you’re here to relax or explore, it promises an unforgettable stay for up to 6 guests.

Eat

The stunning, contemporary kitchen forms the heart of the cottage, equipped with modern appliances, including an integrated fridge-freezer, full-size dishwasher, 4-burner induction hob, oven, and combi microwave. Whether preparing a home cooked meal or prepping some quick snacks for your hike, it has everything you need for a home-from-home stay. The breakfast bar offers 4 stools where you can gather together for a relaxed breakfast or afternoon tea, and for coffee lovers, there’s a Nespresso Vertuo machine with milk frother. You can also pop into the Muddy Boots café which offers great coffee and cakes, a good hearty breakfast, hot and cold sandwiches, and delicious lunches. Muddy Boots is open daily between 9am – 4pm, as well as alternate Friday and Saturday evenings for Bistro evenings, quiz nights, and live music.

Sleep

Upstairs at Woodside, you’ll find three impeccably styled bedrooms, each with its own luxury en-suite bathroom. The Master bedroom offers sweeping views and features a super king bed, a 42-inch smart TV, and a built-in dressing area, while its en-suite includes a modern free-standing bath and shower. Bedroom 2 can be set up as a super king or a twin upon request, and features a luxurious bath and rain dance shower. Bedroom 3, the smallest but equally beautiful, has a zip/link super king bed and a walk-in rain dance shower.

Relax

The stunning interiors and sociable spaces at Woodside Cottage make it easy for you and your guests to relax and unwind. The cosy living room features a wood burner, leather sofas and a 64-inch smart TV for movie nights or catching top with your favourite series after an active day. Outdoors, you’ll find an immaculate stone-flagged patio at the rear with a BBQ, a fire pit, and dining area for 10 people. This creates the perfect, intimate space for alfresco dining or a relaxing evening under the stars. For a quieter moment, enjoy the peaceful front bench, overlooking a communal grassy area and woodland, or take a stroll through the surrounding grounds.

The 4,000-acre Harewood Estate offers a wealth of outdoor activities right outside your doorstep, and is also home to rare breed livestock, a deer park, and native wildlife. The magical woodland behind the cottages at Knap Yard is a wonder for children to explore. Whether hiking, cycling, or simply relaxing in nature, there’s plenty to see and do. Explore the famous Leeds Country Way, Ebor Way, and Dales Way walking routes, or cycle through 15 miles of public bridle paths. And, TV fans should not miss out on the opportunity to visit the Emmerdale Village Tour whilst staying in Harewood for an unmissable behind-the-scenes experience

By Car

By car the post code is LS17 9LF. Enter the estate from A659 Otley road turning left onto Weardley Lane (or right if approaching from pool in Wharfedale / Arthington)

Your next left takes you into the estate where signs guide you to the cottages and Estate office.

The drive to the cottage winds itself through the Woodland (and in some places uneven road) for about a mile, taking in breathtaking views of Harewood House and lake and passing an old stone bridge, ponds, waterfalls and often plenty of wildlife to be seen en route. As you tun the corner, Woodside Lodge sits first on the right and then Woodside cottage where you will find ample parking for 3 cars and an EV point.
