Right at the heart of The Laurels is its beautifully designed open-plan kitchen and dining area. It’s here where culinary creativity meets countryside charm courtesy of the stunning solid wood kitchen cabinets, electric Aga, spacious island worktop and atmospheric artworks. Gather around the dining table for long, relaxed dinners, plan a special celebration with friends, or simply enjoy a morning coffee while basking in the natural sunlight that pours through the glazed extension at every opportunity. Just off the kitchen, you’ll also find a spacious utility room complete with washing machine, tumble dryer, and built-in storage – perfect for muddy boots, jackets, and other countryside essentials.

SLEEP

The Laurels sleeps six guests in three stylish country-chic bedrooms where you can enjoy cosy nights and slow mornings.

Master King Suite: This is the house’s main retreat with a luxurious bath, a separate walk-in shower, and twin basins for added comfort and space.

Second King Bedroom: A private haven complete with en suite bath,  armchair, and a cosy kitchenette – perfect for a morning cup or a late-night snack.

Third Bedroom: Elegant and tranquil, this room has its own en suite shower room, as well as soft linens, and countryside views. It’s an ideal space for winding down after a day of exploring.

RELAX

From the moment you arrive, this is a luxury holiday home which invites you to forget the outside world and totally unwind. The main living area is spacious yet intimate, with a step-down into a lovely, airy room that blends kitchen, dining, and seating around a welcoming wood burner. Across the hallway, there’s a second log-burning fire in the snug and library – a quiet retreat for reading, games, and a glass of something cold as the sun goes down. With underfloor heating downstairs, you’ll feel cosy and comfortable no matter the season. On warmer days, open the living room doors onto the private paved terrace, where the outdoor seating makes the perfect spot for morning coffee in the sun or starlit evenings and memorable chats.

EXPLORE

Located in a the peaceful spot in the village of Laverton, The Laurels offers a dog-friendly gateway to some of North Yorkshire’s most enchanting landscapes and historic attractions.  Close to the picturesque village of West Tanfield, and not far from Ripon, you can choose to explore as much or as little as you like. Walk the nearby Dales trails, visit the local country pubs, or find some quiet time for reflection in Ripon Cathedral. The iconic Fountains Abbey is also just a short drive away – a jaw-dropping historic site, which is a great day out for both kids and parents.

By Car

Laverton is easily reached by car and sits just a short drive west of Ripon in North Yorkshire. From the A1(M), take the exit for Ripon/Thirsk and follow signs toward Kirkby Malzeard and Laverton. The route takes you through scenic countryside and typically offers a smooth, well-signposted journey. Driveway parking for up to 3 cars is available at The Laurels for a stress-free arrival.

By Train

The nearest station is Thirsk, with regular links to York, Leeds, and beyond.

The accommodation was excellent. Plenty of room and very clean. Well equipped kitchen. Bedrooms with en suites were spacious and finished to a high standard.  Beautiful surroundings and incredibly peaceful.

It’s a beautiful cottage we had a fabulous weekend lovely village.

We had a wonderful stay! The house itself is lovely and located in a peaceful village, perfect for a relaxing getaway. The kitchen was well equipped which made cooking together so easy, and the space worked brilliantly for a group celebration. My two best friends and myself booked it for our annual birthday trip with our boyfriends. The area is great too. We enjoyed a beautiful walk at Fountains Abbey nearby, and Masham was perfect for a pub lunch and drinks. Overall, it is an ideal spot for a group trip or special occasion. Would definitely recommend!

Wow, what a beautiful place to stay. Lovely country chic style, we found the book collections an absolute privilege to enjoy, we were completely blown away by those books.
The whole place was very comfortable- beds, sofas, would love to return, fantastic to have 3 en-suites. Powerful showers, warm under foot. Didn’t need the woodburner but generous supply of logs. BBQ bricks. Nice villages very short drive. Ripon 19 mins. So peaceful. Friendly gardener and other locals. Would absolutely recommend.

The Laurels is a beautiful, spacious, clean and comfortable house, in a great location to visit the area. The beds are comfy and showers are good. We enjoyed the outdoor space for drinks and meals.

The house is beautiful and in a very peaceful village. The owner is very friendly and the agent is fabulous. We booked for two nights and now are staying two weeks!
