Dovecote Cottage, Near Malton, North Yorkshire

Dovecote Cottage is an idyllic three-bedroom countryside retreat in the heart of Ryedale, North Yorkshire. Recently renovated, it offers all the modern comforts in a peaceful and traditional rural setting. Complete with a hot tub, pizza oven and far-reaching views, it’s an ideal holiday home whether you’re looking to explore the region or simply rest & unwind. 

Eat

The cottage features an open-plan kitchen, dining area, and sitting room which are great for socialising and relaxing after a day of exploration. The kitchen is well-equipped with all the essentials, including a Tassimo coffee machine for your morning brew, an electric oven, a hob, and a fridge for storing fresh ingredients. You and your guests can enjoy meals at the dining table, or step through the French doors onto the terrace for an al fresco dining experience with breathtaking views. The outdoor space is furnished with seating, a charcoal BBQ, pizza oven and, of course, the hot tub, which you can relax into after a delicious meal. When you fancy dining out, The Blacksmith’s Arms in Westow and The Stone Trough Inn, overlooking Kirkham Priory, are popular nearby pubs ready to welcome you in with good food and a friendly atmosphere.

Sleep

There are three spacious double bedrooms, each with a super-king bed that can also be configured into twins upon request. The rooms are comfortable and bright and are perfect for a relaxing stay. The bedrooms share two modern bathrooms with showers and please note that each bedroom has a step down into it.

Relax

Relaxation is at the heart of Dovecote Cottage’s experience. The large, open-plan sitting room features a cosy log burner, a large L-shaped sofa, and a smart TV for those moments when you just want to switch off and unwind. French doors lead out to the outdoor terrace, where you’ll find the hot tub – perfect for soaking up the views of the rolling Yorkshire countryside as you bathe. The outdoor seating area offers a lovely space to relax, and the charcoal BBQ makes al fresco dining easy in the summer months.

Explore

The holiday cottage is really well located for exploring the best of North Yorkshire. For outdoor activity enthusiasts, the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales are easily accessible, with scenic walks, cycling trails, and numerous stunning landscapes to enjoy. You are just a short drive away from Westow, where you’ll find the Blacksmith’s Arms pub, and just a little further are the major attractions of Castle Howard and the Yorkshire Arboretum, as well as the seaside towns of Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay, and Scarborough. Malton and York are not too far away, offering a range of shops, restaurants, and historic sites.

• Starlink Broadband which has 200 mbps downlad and 7.91 mbps upload.
• Tassimo Coffee Machine.
• 2 Dogs allowed at £40.00 a dog (please enquire on booking if you would like to bring more dogs). Dogs must be on leads when outside, the garden is not escape proof.
• Log burner with starter basket of logs and kindling. Extra lots available please enquire for cost.
• 3 superkings can be split into twins if required.
• Bedroom default will be 3 superkings – please request on booking if twins are needed in any bedrooms. (Please note there will be a charge if a bed formation request is made within 2 weeks or less of a guests stay).
• Please note all three bedrooms have a step down into them.
• If you wish to eat at The Blacksmith Arms in Westow prior booking is necessary.

GROUND FLOOR

Guests enter the house through the front door into a hallway leading through to the open plan sitting/dining/kitchen with french sliding windows leading out to the terrace with outdoor seating and hot tub with far reaching views across Yorkshire. The sitting room has a large L shaped sofa with log burner and smart tv.

The Kitchen has a Tassimo coffee machine, electric oven, hob and fridge.

FIRST FLOOR

There are three double bedrooms with superking beds and these can be made up either as doubles or twins (please request on booking). Please note each bedroom has a step down into it.

There are two shower rooms and one bathroom.

EXTERIOR

There is a paved terrance around the house with outdoor seating, charcoal BBQ and hot tub with wonderful views.  Please note that this a working farm and dogs must be kept on leads when outside.

There is parking at the cottage for 6 cars.

Getting to Dovecote…

By Car:

Dovecote Cottage is located 2.3 miles from Westow close to Malton and York, 27 miles from the Yorkshire Coast, 35 miles from Wetherby, 47 miles from Harrogate and 40 miles from Leeds.

The cottage is close to the A64 and A1 in The Vale of York with easy access to The Yorkshire Dales and The North York Moors.

By Train:

Malton train station is 6 miles & York train station is 14 miles away with direct train service to the north and south.

Dovecote Cottage was an excellent find !! The cottage is in a beautiful location with stunning views looking out over the countryside. We had everything we needed in the cottage, which was fully equipped, very clean and beautifully presented. We can’t speak highly enough of the cottage and our stay here. I would highly recommend this. We will definitely be returning.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful Airbnb! The home was spotless, cozy, and thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable weekend, including logs for the fireplace and plush towels. The house made staying in a delight, and we look forward to returning in the spring or summer to fully enjoy the outdoor spaces and hot tub. The location was great as well, with a charming local pub nearby that we visited on Friday evening. Overall, it was a lovely experience, and we absolutely plan to book again in the future!

Lovely weekend stay, house is as described and was easy to find. The views were lovely from all rooms and the hot tub was a great way to relax at the end of the day. 3 lovely sized rooms with plenty of storage. Beds were lovely to sleep in and the house was cosy and warm with the heating on, the log burner is a great addition too.

Lovely cottage exactly as listed. Very cosy and clean Comfy beds with nice linens and towels . Great hot showers . Extra touches of toiletries , bottled water , wine and crisps really appreciated. The views from the cottage are stunning and The Hot tub was amazing . Such a peaceful getaway. The Jolly Farmer in Leavening highly recommend and a short walk away .

Would highly recommend Dovecote Cottage. The Cottage is really nicely done out and furnished, very well appointed with everything you might need. The beds are super comfy and cosy, and the living area is a perfect size. The views around the Cottage are beautiful, especially from the hot tub. A lovely cottage in a great location with stunning uninterrupted views. We had a really enjoyable stay. Beautifully furnished and very well thought out with all the finishing touches and a well equipped kitchen. Very comfortable beds, a great shower and a cosy log burner in the sitting room.

What a lovely treat… we had a fabulous stay at The Dovecote. Beautifully fitted out and comfortable barn conversation with all the modern conveniences. Lots of luxury treats that we did not expect, like dressing gowns, pool slippers, complimentary bottle of wine from the local Vineyard, logs and fire lighters, candles, and coffee pods. We really did have a great time, and the view from the Hot-tub is stunning.
