At The Byre you’ll find everything you need to prepare delicious home-cooked meals and locally-sourced delicacies for everyone to share. The modern kitchen has plenty of prep-space and is equipped with an induction hob and electric oven that are perfect for all your culinary creations. While the open plan dining area is lofty and light for enjoying sociable mealtimes together or boardgames after dinner. And, when the weather’s right, you can enjoy an alfresco breakfast on the outdoor patio – a peaceful spot with a table and chairs to unwind, take in the views and listen to the chatter of the birds.

SLEEP

Your luxury holiday home comfortably sleeps six, offering two sumptious super king en-suite bedrooms, each with their own private shower. The third bedroom is a cosy twin, sharing a family bathroom that features both a freestanding bath and a separate shower. Each room features a relaxing, neutral decor, and you can adjust the temperature to your perfect setting with individual thermostats. The soothing atmosphere promises restful nights, with smart TVs in both the sitting room and the main bedroom for your entertainment.

RELAX

We want you to switch off as soon as you arrive, so whether you’re cosying up inside or taking in the serene surroundings outside, The Byre is is designed to be a luxury self-catering home that’s all about promoting relaxation. The sitting room is warm and inviting, complete with an electric fire to set the mood. For some active relaxation, you can also enjoy a game of ping pong – the table is set up for you in the garage, just across the gravelled drive. The patio is also a lovely space to unwind and breathe in some fresh Yorkshire air or read the book you’ve been trying to finish!

EXPLORE

The location offers a wonderful setting to connect with the best of Yorkshire’s nature and wildlife. While staying here, you can take full advantage of the bridle paths all around you and stumble upon breathtaking scenery at every turn. It’s perfect for leisurely strolls, with the opportunity to spot local birds and and explore the stunning landscapes all year round. The historic town of Tadcaster is only a short drive away. Be sure to visit the famous Tadcaster Bridge and pop into the local pubs, cafes, and independent shops. The stunning city of York is also just a twenty minute drive, offering world-class attractions like the York Minster, National Railway Museum, York Racecourse and the medieval Shambles street.

Default bed formation is 1 x  superking, 1 x king and a twin room.  Please note the beds will be made up as the default and cannot be changed.

Dogs allowed 2 dogs maximum at £40 a dog per stay. Please keep dogs on leads outside. Thank you.

Each room can be controlled with their own thermostats.

Please note there is another property that is being renovated on the farm and builders will be working internally on this house during the week (not weekends) which will be finished by August this year (2025).

There will be a ping pong table set up for guests in the garage across the gravelled drive, please note this will be shared with another holiday home on the farm.

The patio is enclosed with post and rail fencing, so this is not escape proof. Dogs must be kept on leads outside of this area.

There are horses and livestock in the surrounding fields on the farm.  Please do not attempt to feed or pet the horses.

Guests enter the house which is all on the ground floor.

Two of the bedrooms have ensuite shower rooms and the third bedroom which is the twin has a family bathroom with bath and shower.

Getting to Catterton:

By Car

The Byre is conveniently located in Catterton, near Tadcaster, just off the A64. From the A1(M), take the A64 exit towards York and continue towards Tadcaster.

By Train

The nearest railway station is in York, a 22 minute drive away.

By Plane

Leeds Bradford Airport is the closest international airport, situated about 25 minutes by car from the property. Alternatively, Manchester Airport is about an hour and 20 minutes’ drive away.

Such a gorgeous barn with great facilities and a very well equipped kitchen. The beds were luxurious and comfortable and the whole place was extremely well maintained and clean. Just what we needed. Would definitely stay here again!

Any amazing place to stay, we were away for a family weekend together and the barn was pristine. The surroundings were beautiful and the hosts were really helpful for any request we had. Couldn’t recommend this place enough.

We had a fabulous four night stay at The Byre. Beautifully appointed with the most amazingly comfortable beds, luxurious welcome provisions and the best kitchen I have experienced.  The spotlessly clean and cosy single level floor plan was a welcome respite from staircases in most properties. The outlook over the fields and watching the horses was relaxing and owners were very friendly and accommodating. During our stay we had a great day at Castle Howard (30 minutes away) which in addition to outstanding grounds and gardens has one of the best “house’ experiences we have had. . Well worth a visit.

Fantastic place, beautifully done out and so homely and comfortable too, we absolutely loved it! It was spotless and had absolutely everything we needed, including some lovely welcome touches! We loved the table tennis table too, which provided lots of fun competition. Great dog walks from the place. Would certainly recommend to friends and family, and we would love to come back…maybe when other buildings finished with extended family!!  Overall, loved it!!

We had a fantastic stay at this beautiful holiday home. The space is modern, stylish, and still feels wonderfully cozy and inviting. The host was excellent – communication was clear and responsive, and they kindly accommodated our request for an earlier check-in due to a work commitment on arrival day. All in all, a great experience. We’d definitely love to return!

I really can’t find enough good words to say about this place, honestly we had a fantastic experience. The house was fantastic and the surrounding countryside was beautiful. The owner called to see how we were getting on, and brought us a lovely bottle of wine. I will definitely be booking this lovely house again in the near future. 10/10 for our stay.

Our stay at the Byre was everything we needed. It felt like home immediately and we all wished that we could’ve stayed for longer. Everything was spotless and beautifully presented. The dog settled into the space very quickly and the fact there’s no stairs made it so much better for my elderly nan who had travelled with us.
