Burton House is a beautifully appointed Yorkshire holiday cottage, situated in a peaceful corner of the Yorkshire Dales. This spacious two-bedroom property is light, airy, and offers a tranquil retreat for those seeking comfort and calm. With a dog-friendly enclosed garden, it’s an ideal getaway for couples, families, or small groups. 

Eat

The newly fitted kitchen and dining area provide everything you need to dine in while staying at Burton House. The kitchen is fully equipped with modern, integrated appliances making meal prep and cleanup a breeze. The oak-wrapped breakfast bar offers a casual space for morning coffees or informal meals, while the dining table is great for family meals and intimate dinners. In the rear garden, you can enjoy al fresco dining in the summer months with spectacular views of the surrounding countryside.

Sleep

The house offers two impeccably furnished bedrooms designed for relaxation. The first is a spacious, south-facing room with a super king-sized bed and a cosy reading nook to nestle in and unwind after a long day of exploring. The second offers breathtaking views up to Fremington Edge, inspiring early morning walks in the fresh Dales air. Both rooms feature super king-sized beds, which can also be split into twins upon request if you prefer this setup. The bedrooms share a spacious family bathroom with a bath and an overhead shower. For larger groups, the nearby cottages — Turbine House, Greystones, and Charlie’s Stable — are also available, providing additional accommodation very close by. 

Relax

The cosy sitting room at Burton House is the ideal place to relax after a day of hiking or cycling in the Yorkshire Dales. With two comfortable sofas, a 40” smart TV, and a Netflix subscription, you can unwind with your favourite shows or movies while enjoying a Yorkshire brew! The cottage is surrounded by farmland and the sounds of nature, making it an incredibly restful place to be. Outside, the enclosed garden is great for dogs to stroll while you take in the panoramic views of Fremington Edge and listen to the gentle sounds of the flowing Arkle Beck and the calls of birds and sheep.

Explore

While staying here, you’re ideally located for exploring the enthralling Swaledale region and the wider Yorkshire Dales. The pretty village of Reeth is just a two-minute walk away from the house and here you can find a range of amenities including pubs, restaurants, cafés, shops, as well as the popular Swaledale Museum. Every Friday, the village hosts a lively market, where you can pick up local produce and artistry. This area is a walker’s paradise, with numerous trails starting right from the doorstep, including the famous Swaledale Walks. You can also explore local attractions such as Castle Howard, and Fountains Abbey for a further dive into the region’s rich history and culture.

Set in the beautiful countryside of Swaledale, surrounded by farmland and stunning views from every window, the house boasts its own unique history. It is so peaceful in this corner of the village, all you can hear are the birds, the sheep and the Arkle Beck which runs nearby.

The village of Reeth is an ideal base for exploring the Dales. It is a bustling community, with pubs, restaurants, cafes, shops, a museum, a hairdressers an ice cream parlour, a beauty salon and a market every Friday. Visitors are never short of things to do, and that’s before we mention the many walks starting right on the doorstep. The village centre is a 2 minute walk from these properties.

Such a lovely place to stay. Burton House was ideal for 2 adults, two teenagers, and a dog. In easy reach of all local amenities, walks and countryside. Beautifully decorated with very comfortable beds. We lit the fire a few times and enjoyed the cosy feel of this real treat of a place. We plan on returning!

Fabulous short stay at Burton House to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Exceptional accommodation in a beautiful setting. The property exceeded our expectations. We loved it.
