Middleham Castle, Middleham

Best known as the childhood residence and favourite home of Richard III, Middleham Castle sets an imposing scene across the Dales.

Richmond Castle, Richmond

Built in the late eleventh century, Richmond Castle was one of the first stone built fortifications raised by the Normans. The ill-fated Drummer Boy was sent to explore underground passages between here and Easby Abbey, never to be seen again.

Bolton Castle near Leyburn

Bolton Castle is an imposing sight in Wensleydale – with a fantastic tearoom, beautiful gardens, falconry and all manner of events through the summer. Famously Mary, Queen Of Scots was held here.
