Beautiful Country House situated in the quiet rural village of Westow on the edge of the Wolds surrounded by wonderful walks, gastro pubs and 5 miles from the market town of Malton with easy access to York and the Coast and close to Kirkham Abbey.
The house sleeps 14 guests in 7 double bedrooms with 5 bathrooms, Double Drawing Room, Dining Room, Large Kitchen, Television room, Sun room with kitchenette, Playroom, Two Large Entrance Halls, Swimming pool, Tennis Court and a large beautiful garden with Terrace and seating.
The house is in the middle of the village of Westow and was built in 1696 and is rich in history with Lewis Carroll being a frequent visitor and basing his Alice on an Alice living in the house at the time. Westow is a pretty village in the heart of Ryedale with The Blacksmith Arms gastro pub within walking distance.
Guests enter the house into a large Hall with roof lantern leading through to the Front Hall with stone floors and sweeping staircase. The Double Drawing room leads off the front Hall with large comfy sofas, two fireplaces and is a wonderful entertaining room. Across the Hallway is the stunning Dining Room with direct access to the Kitchen with large kitchen table, aga and electric oven and island with granite worktop and large fridge freezer. The Utility room leads off the kitchen.
The Hallway leads down a corridor to the Television room leading through to a kitchenette and Sun Room, with table and chairs, leading out to a wonderful walled garden with non heated Swimming Pool and Tennis Court.
On the First Floor there are 5 double bedrooms with 4 Bathrooms and a two staircases, one at each end of the house, leading up to the Second Floor with two double bedrooms and a bathroom with shower and a Sitting room/Playroom.

The Local Area
The house is located 6 miles from Malton, 15 miles from York, 27 miles from the Yorkshire Coast, 35 miles from Wetherby, 47 miles from Harrogate and 40 miles from Leeds. The house is close to the A64 and A1 in The Vale of York with easy access to The Yorkshire Dales and The North York Moors.
Close by is Castle Howard, Harewood House, Scampston Hall and Gardens, Fountains Abbey and Newby Hall and Gardens, Flamingo Land and the seaside towns of Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay and Scarborough.
Getting There
Malton train station is 6 miles and York train station is 15 miles away with direct train service to the north and the south.
Other Things to Note
The housekeeper lives in a cottage at the back of the house and will be on hand for any questions.
No dogs

2 x BBQ – we will provide one bag of charcoal per booking
Logs for fire – we will provide this and leave them in the log shed
We will provide selection of swimming towels and leave in the sun room - please do not use towels from bedrooms
Food deliveries – we can recommend Morrisons or Ocado
Swimming Pool – UNHEATED.
Tennis Court – guests need to bring their own rackets and balls. Tarmac surface that is uneven. Please let us know if you wish to use the court so we can leave the net up for you,
Lawn mower – there is a remote mower which will cut the grass during your stay. Please do not interfere with it.
Televisions – the Tv room has a smart tv but the one in the main sitting room and top floor playroom are just for use of dvd’s
Fireplaces – please do not use dining room fireplace
Croquet set available
No non-allergy duvets and pillows.
High chair and cot – please ask if you wish to use these during your stay. You will need to bring your own bedding.
No fireworks, confetti, glitter, sticking on walls and windows, loud music, water balloons, fake tan in swimming pool, moving furniture. No stag or hen parties.
