Brimham Rocks
Picture Mount Everest; as crazy as it sounds, over 400 million years ago, a large mountain range just like the Himalayas stood not far from where Brimham Rocks now stands. Over time, powerful erosive forces slowly wore them away creating a river delta the size of Yorkshire. These sands were later compacted beginning the long process of shaping the rocks into their current forms.
Hackfall, Woodland Trust
This ancient woodland has been restored to its former glory and boasts original features such as grottos and glades, rustic temples and waterfalls, as well as carpets of bluebells in spring and an impressive number of woodland birds.
How Stean Gorge

A spectacular limestone ravine carved out over thousands of years by waterflow, How Stean Gorge is situated in the stunning Yorkshire Dales. This steep sided chasm is almost 1 km (just over ½ a mile) in length and up to 20 metres (80ft) deep in places. You can follow winding walkways, explore caves and tunnels
An action-packed day out for all the family guaranteed – come rain or shine! Armed with hard hat and torch, children love scrambling through the gorge, exploring the caves by torchlight and paddling in the water.
Scampston Hall and Walled Garden
Scampston Walled Garden is a strikingly beautiful contemporary garden quite unlike any other. Set within the 18th century walls of the original kitchen garden for Scampston Hall, today the walled garden has an exciting and unashamedly modern feel, complementing the adjacent 18th century ‘Capability’ Brown parkland.
Stockeld Park
Stockeld Park is one of Yorkshire’s best family attractions. The renowned Enchanted Forest is filled with magical interactive fun and is home to five fantastically themed adventure playgrounds. Zip down the zip wire in Spider’s Lair, take a Teapot Slide or man the pirate ship at Woodsands Cove. Outside the Enchanted Forest, get lost in our giant yew tree maze or enjoy live theatre productions and themed events. The different outdoor activities depend on the time of year and include the likes of buccaneer boats in the warmer months and ice skating in the winter!
