Perfectly situated to visit the superb waterfalls on the River Ure, the National Park Visitor Centre Information Advisers can also point you in the direction of other lovely walks in the area taking in the surrounding woods or heading up to the picturesque villages of Carperby or Aysgarth.
Picture Mount Everest; as crazy as it sounds, over 400 million years ago, a large mountain range just like the Himalayas stood not far from where Brimham Rocks now stands. Over time, powerful erosive forces slowly wore them away creating a river delta the size of Yorkshire. These sands were later compacted beginning the long process of shaping the rocks into their current forms.
This ancient woodland has been restored to its former glory and boasts original features such as grottos and glades, rustic temples and waterfalls, as well as carpets of bluebells in spring and an impressive number of woodland birds.

A spectacular limestone ravine carved out over thousands of years by waterflow, How Stean Gorge is situated in the stunning Yorkshire Dales. This steep sided chasm is almost 1 km (just over ½ a mile) in length and up to 20 metres (80ft) deep in places. You can follow winding walkways, explore caves and tunnels

Set within the 18th century walls of the original kitchen garden for Scampston Hall, today the walled garden has an exciting and unashamedly modern feel, complementing the adjacent 18th century ‘Capability’ Brown parkland.
