This pretty stone built barn conversion is perfectly situated just a few miles from the busy market towns of Bedale, Masham and Leyburn in the village of Newton le Willows, on the edge of Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales. It is the perfect place to explore the Yorkshire Dales and beyond. This property can also be rented alongside Fortmayne Stables if required.
This charming and romantic cottage is light filled and airy making it a great place to relax when you are not out and about exploring. The open plan living area, with exposed beams, oak floor, warmth and character, has a lovely shaker style kitchen with breakfast bar for your morning coffee. There is a dining table and chairs for that candlelit dinner if you prefer. The sitting room is spacious and perfect for unwinding after a busy day visiting all Yorkshire has to offer. There is a Smart TV with Netflix and Wifi.
The spacious kitchen area has a double oven, cooker with induction hob, microwave. There is a separate boot room for your walking boots or wellies, here you will also find the dishwasher and fridge.
The characterful Master Bedroom is upstairs with its oak beams and stunning views of the open countryside, there is a Super King-sized bed TV perfect for those lazy mornings and breakfast in bed. The bathroom is next door which has a large walk in shower.
The immaculate garden is peaceful and quiet with far reaching views of the Yorkshire Dales, perfect for a relaxing drink after a busy days sightseeing, choose from the bbq or light the fire pit and relax in the enclosed lawned area. Two dogs are allowed at the cottage and there are wonderful walks direct from the cottage, making it a great holiday cottage for your dogs too.
The Local Area
Manor Grange Cottage is very easy to get to from the A1 making it a convenient location if travelling from the north or south of the country. The village of Newton le Willows is between the market towns of Leyburn and Bedale. Bedale is a short drive away where you can pick up supplies from the independent butchers and greengrocers with market day on Tuesdays. Have a coffee in one of the many different cafes, and browse the quirky shops. Why not leave the car behind and take a walk up to High Park Tearooms, just a mile or so from the property, you can enjoy the lovely Wensleydale views from indoors or out, perfect for all weathers. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating area.
The Brewery town of Masham, is a short drive away, with the Visitor Centre at The Black Sheep and Theakston’s Breweries a must for Beer lovers. A river walk here is lovely with or without dogs. Market days here are Saturday and Wednesday.
Leyburn is also a great Market Town, their market day is a Friday. Campbells the independent food store is a haven for food lovers, with its local food and fine wine department. Just outside the town you will find Tennants the largest auction house outside London, try visiting on a sale day if you can, if not they have a modern cafe, restaurant and shop making it an interesting place to stop. Richmond has its historic Castle for history enthusiasts, along with a lovely river walk and plenty of one off shops. The Station is a converted Railway building which now houses a cinema, restaurant and speciality food shops. Explore a little further up the Dales and you will find quaint towns and villages such as Reeth and Hawes, these lovely little towns are a pleasure to wander around with lots of options for a cosy lunch or dinner, some have beer gardens with amazing views or you can sit inside by a roaring fire. For the more serious walker the Dales offer some of North Yorkshire’s most stunning climbs.
Cycling and Yorkshire now go hand in hand following on from the the huge success of the Tour de France in 2014, try your hand at one of the famous hill climbs or simply bring your bike and visit the Swale Trail in Swaledale.
